OUR TEACHERS


All of the teachers at Stage West are professionally trained West End musical theatre performers.
Our principals, Laura and Hollie, studied together at the Arts Educational Schools, London. Since then, they have performed, directed, choreographed and taught in both London’s West End and around the world.

    Laura trained at The Arts Educational Schools London, gaining a BA(Hons) Musical Theatre. Since graduating she has worked both in the UK and abroad as a performer and teacher of all styles of dance & most recently choreographed for MTV's Top 5 most watched show, 'Plain Jane'.

    As a teacher, Laura has years of experience and has worked for Stagecoach, Guildford School of Acting, The Urdang Academy, S.O.T.A Stage School, Mo's Stage School, Jeanine Greville Dance Academies and The Read Dance and Theatre College, Reading.

    Professional credits include; LOSERVILLE Original West End Cast/West Yorkshire Playhouse (Dance Captain & Swing), A TRIBUTE TO GLEE Dubai, WE WILL ROCK YOU UK & European Tour, NEVER FORGET UK Tour (Stacey/Cover Annie), MAMMA MIA! International Tour (1st Cover Lisa), 42ND STREET (Assistant Choreographer), P&O WORLD CRUISE, Dancer for LISA SCOTT-LEE's UK Tour and China, ALADDIN Malvern Theatre (Princess Jasmine) and several seasons at the Hexagon Theatre, Reading.

    She has also recently been featured in television commercials for Premier Inn, Burger King, Vodafone, TGI Fridays, SKY 3D and the Mars Football World Cup.

    Hollie is currently starring in the RSC smash hit musical MATILDA, as swing and cover Miss Honey.

    Hollie trained at Arts Educational Schools London, where she received a First Class BA(Hons) Degree.

    Hollie has 10 years teaching experience specialising in the early years. She has worked as a teacher and director for West End Stage, Stagecoach, West End Workshops, S.O.T.A Stage School, Berkshire Theatre School and as a workshop leader in local schools. Hollie also teaches Acting and Musical Theatre LAMDA.

    Her professional credits include; Veronica in the original cast of BETTY BLUE EYES at the Novello Theatre, Lamb Chops (Understudy Serena & Mabel) on the Irish tour of FAME THE MUSICAL, the original revival cast of OLIVER! at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Kelsi in HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL at the Hammersmith Apollo, HIGH SOCIETY UK Tour unstudying the role of Dinah, and the title roles in SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARVES at the Mansfield Palace and CINDERELLA at Camberley Theatre. Hollie's Film and TV credits include; Frannie Squeers in NICK NICKLEBY for BBC One, Bloody Mary in THE BLOODY MARY SHOW and THE MAIDS (Short Film).

At STAGE WEST we often invite surprise guest teachers straight from the West End to teach and workshop current musicals with our students.

In previous years, we have had performers from West End smash hits; Matilda, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, War Horse, Mamma Mia!, Fame, Stephen Ward, We Will Rock You, Starlight Express, Mary Poppins and Les Miserables!

The list is ever growing, but here are a few faces that have been part of our success so far...

Abii Bourne

Abii is currently studing Musical Theatre at the Arts Educational School.
Abii's previous theatre credits include: Tiger Lily in PETER PAN, Fairy Meadows in JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, Anita in WEST SIDE STORY, Sally in ME AND MY GIRL, and Hodel in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.
Abii's most recent achievement was winning the Tom Moss award in 2012.

Amy Punter

Amy recently starred in the West End children's musical SEUSSICAL.
Amy trained at ArtsEd London and has since performed in musicals all over the UK and in London's West End.
Other credits include: CAROUSEL, EVITA, SPRING AWAKENING, SWEENEY TODD, FOOTLOOSE, CHRISTMAS IN NEW YORK, SLEEPING BEAUTY and BROADWAY TO WEST END.

Ben Morris

Ben is currently starring in the West End musical THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
Ben is well known in Ireland, having won the role of Nick in the hit musical FAME! on RTE's reality television series.
Other credits include; HAIR, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and FAME!.

Charlotte Gooch

Charlotte trained professionally at Laine Theatre Arts and has spent the last 10years working in musical theatre and television.

Most recently Charlotte has been playing the role of Tina Sparkle in the U.K. Premiere of Strictly Ballroom the musical. Prior to this she stepped in to the shoes of Ginger Rogers and played the lead role of Dale Tremont in Top Hat, both in the West End and on tour.
Other theatre roles include Penny Johnson in Dirty Dancing, Margot in Legally Blonde, Patty Simcox and Sandy in Grease and Bombalurina in Cats, to name but a few.
Last year Charlotte appeared as a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing.
When not performing Charlotte loves to teach and has recently been coaching Jazz Tap and Musical Theatre at The Central School of Ballet, The American Musical Theatre Academy, London Studio Centre and The Performance Preparation Academy.

Charlotte Spencer

Charlotte's most recent role was Christine Keeler in Andrew Lloyd Webber's new musical 'STEPHEN WARD'.
As well as being an established actress, Charlotte is also the voice of everyone's favourite dancing mouse, ANGELINA BALLERINA.
Charlotte played the original Jane Banks in the west end production of MARY POPPINS, directed by Richard Eyre. Other credits include: OLIVER! and the hugely successful LES MISERABLES movie.

Chris Edgerley

Chris is a presenter on the hit ITV children's television series 'Hi-5'.
Chris is a guest teacher for our Mini Stars classes and also covers TV and screen acting with our Main School students.
Other credits include; ALADDIN, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, EMMERDALE, CINDERELLA, JACK AND THE BEANSTALK and MACBETH.

Cristina Hoey

Cristina graduated from the Urdang Academy in 2013.
Recent theatre credits include :

Elinor Machen-Fortune

Elle completed her education at Arts Educational Schools London after some time at The British Institute Modern Music studying Contemporary music and vocal performance. Stage performances include Olivia, TWELFTH NIGHT, Marian, TESS OF THE D'URBEVILLES & Miranda, THE TEMPEST. Elinor is currently filming for the lead role of EVE LYNDSAY in feature film JUST CHARLIE.

Hannah Fairclough

Hannah is currently starring in THE BODYGUARD at the Adelphi Theatre.
Hannah's previous theatre credits include: SOUL SISTER, MAMMA MIA London and International Tour, MOTHER GOOSE, THE HOT MIKADO and THE WILD PARTY.

Holly Dale Spencer

Since graduating from Arts Educational Schools London with a BA in Musical Theatre, Holly has had an extensive performing career gracing the London's West End many time in shows such as Crazy For You, Betty Blues Eyes & Oliver! as well as many UK tours including Mary Poppins, Anything Goes & High Society.
Holly's theatre appearances have also meant she has performed on various TV shows incl. Children In Need & The Oliviers. She was also delighted to be cast in the recent multi award winning Les Miserables movie of 2012.

Jack Shalloo

Jack is currently starring in the West End musical CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY as Charlie's Dad, Mr Bucket!
Jack is also co-writer/developer of the hit cult online sketch show 'The Sketchbank'.
Other credits include; OUR HOUSE, MATILDA, WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND and OLIVER!.

Kate Stevenson

Kate graduated from UCLAN in 2005 and since then has gone on to mentor students who have gone on to appear in productions including BILLY ELLIOT, THE LION KING and SISTER ACT. Kate teaches singing at several academies across London including Envy Performing Arts, Upbeat Music School, Sharnbrook Upper School, The Academy of Performing Arts and ArtsEd.

Lara Denning

Lara has just finished playing the part of Miss Honey in the RSC’s "Matilda the Musical".
Previous experience includes "ROCKY HORROR" , "ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR", “GREASE" AND "DIRTY DANCING". She has taught many workshops around the country as well as regularly teaching all aspects of performing arts when she’s in between jobs.

Lizzie

Lizzie trained in Musical Theatre and Dance at the Urdang Academy, graduating in 2014. I always taught alongside my own training and since graduating I have been teaching both adults and children of all ages in a range of genres including drama, musical theatre, ballet, jazz, tap and aerobics. I am due to undertake my first professional show in December, touring as Aladdin in Eva Long Productions' tour of Aladdin the Pantomime.

Lucy Garrioch

Trained at Arts Education Schools London, Lucy, as well as being an accomplished actress, is also an international Cabaret Artist and vocal coach. After returning from being lead vocalist and vocal captain on board the prestigious Queen Elizabeth, Lucy now travels the world with her one woman show as a headliner Act (Vocalist/Pianist), She has recently headlined on board the Ruby Princess as well as the Saga Pearl II and P&O's Azura. Other credits include; Gladys Murphy in Copacabana, Jemma in Molly Wobbly, LES MISERABLES, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, THE FULL MONTY, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS and THE WIZARD OF OZ.

Luke Morton

Training Guildford School of Acting 3year BA HONS.

Television: Witness for the Prosecution BBC, Coronation Street ITV
Stage: The Prince of the Pagodas (Royal Opera House) Beatles Anniversary Concert (Royal Albert Hall)
Jersey Boys, Evita, King and I.

Tim Goldman

Tim lives in West London and works as a children's entertainer, actor and dramatherapist. He has run sessions for many years in music and movement, improvisation and clowning.
Having trained with clowns from the company, Complicite, Tim took his own show, The Goldman Variations, to fringe festivals in this country and Canada. He is hoping to encourage more people into "Timfoolery".

Tom O'Brien

Tom is Creative Projects Associate at Northampton Theatre Royal & Derngate. He is also co-founder of the theatre company 'TREMers' and Artistic Director of the youth theatre group, 'The Company'.
Tom's directing credits include; DAISY PULLS IT OFF, MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, FASTEST CLOCK IN THE UNIVERSE, JUDY THE RIGHTEOUS and CHRISTMAS IS MILES AWAY.
